This USGS 15-minute topographic sheet is a first-published-in-1899 edition printed in 1909, engraved by H.M. Wilson from an 1897 field survey and kept in very good condition on thick stock. Covering the area west of Rochester, the quad takes in Brockport, Spencerport, Churchville, Scottsville, and Bergen across parts of Monroe, Genesee, and Orleans counties. Predating the modern road and interstate system, it records the historic travel routes and rail lines that once tied these villages together, and coming from an uncommonly well-preserved collection, the sheet is never folded, smooth and flat, with a flawless map area and only light age-toning; the reverse carries printed reference material on reading the map.

All known structures (houses, businesses, churches, schools, barns, cabins, etc) are also shown, with exceptions in some urban areas, where only landmark buildings may be shown.

Maps from the 15-minute series for the continental United States are no longer produced or printed by the USGS and original prints are becoming increasingly difficult to find. They are a valuable historical record for an area, as they contain many placenames and features that have been dropped from more recent maps.
