This USGS 7.5-minute topographic map is a 1970 edition printed in 1973, in very good condition, lightly handled with foldlines and a clean map area free of markings or blemishes. Drawn from a 1969 and 1970 aerial and field survey, it takes in the town of Vail in Eagle and Summit counties, along with portions of White River and Arapaho National Forests and the Eagles Nest Wilderness. The map dates to the years when Vail was coming into its own as a Colorado ski destination, and it shows the high country and 40-foot contours of the surrounding mountains in detail. It comes from the vintage map collection of David R. Wortendyke of Boulder, Colorado.
