1980 Emigrant Canyon California USGS Topo Map

$38

This USGS topographic map covers the Emigrant Canyon quadrangle in Inyo County, California, a 1952 edition printed in 1980 on thick stock at 1:62,500. The quad takes in part of Death Valley National Park about 60 miles northeast of Ridgecrest, with the Panamint Range rising across the sheet and 80-foot contours tracing its rugged terrain. The map area is flawless and the sheet has never been folded, which makes it a good candidate for framing – fitting for one of the starkest landscapes in the Southwest.

FEATURES SHOWN ON THE MAP
The Emigrant Canyon 15-minute map shows cities and towns, roads, railroads, utilities and energy infrastructure, rivers, creeks, elevation contour lines, public land survey lines, county, state, and other administrative boundaries as they existed at the time of the survey in 1948 and 1952. All known structures (houses, businesses, churches, schools, barns, cabins, etc) are also shown.

A VALUABLE HISTORICAL RECORD
Maps from the 15-minute series for the continental United States are no longer produced or printed by the USGS and original prints are becoming increasingly difficult to find. They are a valuable historical record for an area, as they contain many placenames and features that have been dropped from more recent maps.
