This is a 1965 edition of the McDowell Peak quadrangle, a 7.5-minute USGS topographic sheet printed in 1967 and in very good condition, with two faint horizontal foldlines and light handling on an otherwise clean, thick-stock sheet. The quad sits in the McDowell Mountains northeast of Scottsdale, taking in part of the Tonto National Forest, with Fountain Hills within its boundaries and the mountains themselves defining much of the terrain. Surveyed before suburban development reached the west and southeast flanks of the range, it records the area as it stood when much of this ground was still open desert. It comes from the vintage map collection of Art Christiansen of Tempe, Arizona.
