This USGS 7.5-minute topographic sheet is a 1952 edition, printed in 1957 on thick stock and never folded, in good condition with clean map area and some age discoloration and handling wear in the top and upper right collar. Covering the near West Valley from 35th Avenue to 83rd Avenue in Maricopa County, the quad takes in part of western Phoenix and the town of Tolleson, with the Gila River Indian Reservation within its southern boundaries. Surveyed when the westward suburban extent of Phoenix ended around 43rd Avenue and before Interstate 10 existed, the sheet records the West Valley as farmland well ahead of the growth that would fill it in.
