This USGS 15-minute topographic map is a 1956 edition printed in 1969, and the sheet is in excellent condition: never folded, smooth and flat, with a flawless map area and a clean collar free of wear or markings. Drawn from 1955 and 1956 aerial and field surveys, it covers rugged high country along the northern Colorado line about 20 miles northwest of Walden, taking in parts of Routt National Forest and the Mount Zirkel Wilderness across Jackson and Routt counties. This is remote mountain backcountry with little in the way of settlement, and the sheet was printed on thick stock that has been kept crisp and unblemished.
