Adna Washington Centralia Fords Prairie USGS Topo Map 1955

$38

This USGS 15-minute topographic map is a 1953 edition, printed in 1955, and the sheet is in very good condition, lightly handled and never folded on thick stock. Covering an area in Lewis County southwest of Centralia, the quad takes in Fords Prairie along with the smaller communities of Adna and Boistfort. Built from a 1951 through 1953 aerial and field survey, it shows the farm country and low hills of the Chehalis River valley as they were mapped in the early 1950s, with a flawless map area and only minor storage wear at the upper left collar edge.

FEATURES SHOWN ON THE MAP
The Adna 15-minute map shows cities and towns, roads, railroads, utilities and energy infrastructure, rivers, creeks, elevation contour lines, public land survey lines, county, state, and other administrative boundaries as they existed at the time of the survey in 1951 through 1953. All known structures (houses, businesses, churches, schools, barns, cabins, etc) are also shown.

A VALUABLE HISTORICAL RECORD
Maps from the 15-minute series for the continental United States are no longer produced or printed by the USGS and original prints are becoming increasingly difficult to find. They are a valuable historical record for an area, as they contain many placenames and features that have been dropped from more recent maps.
