This joint USGS and Army Corps of Engineers topographic sheet is a 1949 edition carrying 1968 and 1973 revisions, printed in 1976 and in excellent condition, never folded and smooth and flat. Covering a stretch of King County about 17 miles southeast of Seattle, the quad area takes in Maple Valley, Covington, Hobart, and the East Renton Highlands, along with communities like Cedar Mountain and Cedar Grove. The 25-foot contour interval traces the wooded ridges and lake country of this corner of the Cascade foothills, and because the sheet was never folded it lies genuinely flat—a small inventory notation sits in the lower right collar corner and a library stamp appears in the top collar.

This vintage sheet is a 1949 edition of the Maple Valley Washington USGS topographic map revised in 1968 and 1973 using aerial photography. It is an original 50-year-old 1976 United States Geological Survey print in excellent condition.

A VALUABLE HISTORICAL RECORD
This map is from the 7.5-minute series, the most detailed series that is widely available from the USGS. The 1949 Maple Valley map is a valuable historical record for the area. It contains some placenames and features that have been dropped from more recent maps.

The map was photorevised in 1968 and 1973. Any features that changed or were added between the original edition year of 1949 and the photorevision year of 1968 and 1973 are overlayed in purple. The purple overlay provides an excellent view of the fast-growing and changing areas within the quad boundary.
