Printed in its year of first publication, 1951, this USGS 15-minute topographic sheet is in excellent condition—very lightly handled, never folded, and smooth and flat on thick stock. The quad sits in the desert southwest of Phoenix, taking in the community of Mobile in Maricopa County along with parts of the Gila River Indian Reservation, the Sierra Estrella Wilderness, and the North Maricopa Mountains Wilderness. Drawn from a 1947 and 1951 aerial and field survey, it maps the rugged Sonoran Desert basins and ranges of this stretch of central Arizona, and comes from the vintage map collection of Art Christiansen of Tempe.
