This USGS 15-minute topographic sheet is a 1958 edition printed in 1963, in excellent condition: lightly handled, never folded, and printed on thick stock that has kept it smooth and flat. Covering roughly 14 by 17 miles about 30 miles west of Phoenix in Maricopa County, the quad takes in the town of Buckeye and the community of Palo Verde, with the Gila River across the south, the southern White Tank Mountains, and most of what is now Verrado. Drawn from a 1957 and 1958 aerial and field survey and centered on the corridor where I-10 meets Highway 85, it records this stretch of the West Valley before the suburban growth that later reshaped it.
