This USGS 15-minute topographic map is a 1951 edition printed in 1970, and the sheet is in flawless condition on thick stock, never folded and kept smooth and flat. Straddling the California-Oregon border about 30 miles southeast of Klamath Falls, the quad takes in the town of Tulelake along with portions of Lava Beds National Monument, the Tule Lake National Wildlife Refuge, and Modoc National Forest. The Lava Beds country here is a landscape of volcanic flows and cinder cones, and the 20-foot contour interval traces that rugged terrain in detail. Its clean, flat condition makes it a good candidate for framing.
