Printed in 1944, its year of first publication, this USGS 15-minute topographic sheet is in very good condition, lightly handled and never folded on thick stock. The quad sits about 55 miles south of Seattle in Washington, spanning parts of Thurston, Pierce, and Lewis counties, with the town of Yelm and the communities of Rainier, Roy, McKenna, and Vail falling within its boundaries, along with part of the Nisqually Indian Reservation. Drawn from a 1942 field survey by geographer S.C. Kain, the sheet shows the Nisqually River country as it was mapped in the middle of the war years, and the map area itself is flawless.
