Mesquite Nevada Bunkerville USGS 15-Min Topographic Map 1978

$55

This USGS 15-minute topographic map is a 1957 edition printed in 1978, in excellent condition on thick stock. The quad straddles the Nevada-Arizona line about 75 miles northeast of Las Vegas, taking in Mesquite and Bunkerville along the Virgin River, and spans parts of Clark, Lincoln, and Mohave counties. Its underlying survey was completed between 1952 and 1957, before Interstate 15 existed, so the road network it records predates the highway that reshaped travel through this corner of the Mojave. The sheet was never folded and is smooth and flat, with a flawless map area and only a small inventory stamp in the bottom collar, and it comes from the vintage map collection of Art Christiansen of Tempe, Arizona.

FEATURES SHOWN ON THE MAP
The Mesquite 15-minute map shows cities and towns, roads, railroads, utilities and energy infrastructure, rivers, creeks, elevation contour lines, public land survey lines, county, state, and other administrative boundaries as they existed at the time of the survey in 1952 through 1957. All known structures (houses, businesses, churches, schools, barns, cabins, etc) are also shown.

A VALUABLE HISTORICAL RECORD
Maps from the 15-minute series for the continental United States are no longer produced or printed by the USGS and original prints are becoming increasingly difficult to find. They are a valuable historical record for an area, as they contain many placenames and features that have been dropped from more recent maps.
