This USGS 15-minute topographic map is a 1962 edition, printed in 1970, and the sheet is in excellent condition: lightly handled, never folded, on thick stock with a flawless map area and a clean collar. Its 80-foot contour interval traces the steep terrain of the western Grand Canyon, taking in part of Grand Canyon National Park and the Havasupai Indian Reservation, with the community of Supai within the quad boundaries some 25 miles west of Grand Canyon Village. Supai sits deep in Havasu Canyon, reachable only by trail, and the tightly spaced contours here convey just how sheer that country is. This sheet comes from the vintage map collection of Art Christiansen of Tempe, Arizona.
