De Motte Park Arizona USGS 15-Min Topo Map 1964 Vintage
$41
This USGS 15-minute topographic map is a 1962 edition printed in 1964, in very good condition on thick stock, lightly handled and never folded. The quad sits on the Kaibab Plateau north of the Grand Canyon and takes in portions of Grand Canyon National Park, Kaibab National Forest, and the Saddle Mountain Wilderness, high forested country with the 80-foot contour interval tracing the plateau’s relief. De Motte Park itself is one of the open mountain meadows that break the ponderosa and spruce-fir woods along the North Rim approach, well known to anyone who has driven up toward the canyon from Jacob Lake. The map area shows no wear or markings, though the collar carries minor blemishes and hole punches along its left edge.

FEATURES SHOWN ON THE MAP
The De Motte Park 15-minute map shows cities and towns, roads, railroads, utilities and energy infrastructure, rivers, creeks, elevation contour lines, public land survey lines, county, state, and other administrative boundaries as they existed at the time of the survey in 1954 through 1962. All known structures (houses, businesses, churches, schools, barns, cabins, etc) are also shown.
A VALUABLE HISTORICAL RECORD
Maps from the 15-minute series for the continental United States are no longer produced or printed by the USGS and original prints are becoming increasingly difficult to find. They are a valuable historical record for an area, as they contain many placenames and features that have been dropped from more recent maps.
