This USGS 7.5-minute topographic sheet is a 1959 edition with 1968 revisions, printed in 1969 and in excellent condition, never folded and kept smooth and flat with a flawless map area. Covering a stretch of southern Puget Sound about 36 miles southwest of Seattle, the quad takes in the community of Longbranch on the Key Peninsula and reaches across parts of Mason, Pierce, and Thurston counties. The 1968 revisions bring the postwar shoreline and roads of this quiet corner of the Sound up to date over the earlier base, and a library stamp in the top collar marks its institutional past.

This vintage sheet is a 1959 edition of the Longbranch Washington USGS topographic map revised in 1968 using aerial photography. It is an original 57-year-old 1969 United States Geological Survey print in excellent condition.

A VALUABLE HISTORICAL RECORD
This map is from the 7.5-minute series, the most detailed series that is widely available from the USGS. The 1959 Longbranch map is a valuable historical record for the area. It contains some placenames and features that have been dropped from more recent maps.

The map was photorevised in 1968. Any features that changed or were added between the original edition year of 1959 and the photorevision year of 1968 are overlayed in purple. The purple overlay provides an excellent view of the fast-growing and changing areas within the quad boundary.
