A 1940 edition printed in 1963, this USGS 15-minute topographic sheet is in excellent condition, very lightly handled, never folded, and printed on thick stock that keeps it smooth and flat. It takes in a rugged stretch of Park County’s Absaroka Range about 20 miles southeast of Livingston, including the West Boulder Plateau and parts of Gallatin National Forest and the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness. Mount Cowen itself is the high point of the Absarokas, and the 50-foot contours across this high country render the steep relief that draws people to the range. Since the sheet has never been folded and lies flat, it would frame well.
