Walville Washington Pe Ell Doty USGS Topo Map 1941 Antique

$47

This Army Corps of Engineers topographic map of Walville, Washington, is a 1941 edition printed the same year, making it a first-year print now 85 years old. Drawn at 1:62,500 from aerial and field surveys of 1936 and 1938, it covers a stretch of timber country about 20 miles west of Chehalis, taking in Pe Ell and Doty across Lewis and Pacific counties. The sheet is in excellent condition, never folded, on thick stock with a green woodland tint marking the forested hills — well suited to framing.

FEATURES SHOWN ON THE MAP
The Walville 15-minute map shows cities and towns, roads, railroads, rivers, creeks, elevation contour lines, public land survey lines, county, state, and other administrative boundaries as they existed at the time of the survey in 1936 and 1938. All known structures (houses, businesses, churches, schools, barns, cabins, etc) are also shown.

A VALUABLE HISTORICAL RECORD
Maps from the 15-minute series for the continental United States are no longer produced or printed by the USACE and original prints are becoming increasingly difficult to find. They are a valuable historical record for an area, as they contain many placenames and features that have been dropped from more recent maps.
