This USGS 15-minute topographic map is a 1958 edition printed in 1962, on thick stock and in excellent condition – the sheet was never folded, remains smooth and flat, and the map area is flawless, with hole punches along the left collar. Drawn from a 1955 and 1958 aerial and field survey, it takes in the town of Benson and nearby St. David in the San Pedro Valley of Cochise and Pima counties, about 40 miles southeast of Tucson, with part of Coronado National Forest reaching into the quad. Benson grew up as a rail town on the Southern Pacific line, and the map records the valley and surrounding high desert country at that scale of detail. Because the sheet lies flat and shows no folds, it would frame cleanly.
