Printed in its year of first publication, 1947, this USGS/War Department 15-minute topographic sheet is in very good condition, printed on thick stock with a flawless map area and a single midsheet horizontal foldline. The quad sits northwest of Tucson in Pima County and takes in part of Saguaro National Park and the Saguaro Wilderness, with the boundaries including Marana, Oro Valley, Cortaro, Rillito, and Picture Rocks. Surveyed from 1946 aerial and field work, it captures the area before Interstate 10 and present-day suburban growth, mapping the historic travel routes, placenames, and structures known at the time. It comes from the vintage map collection of Art Christiansen of Tempe, Arizona.
