Winchester Mountains Arizona The Mesas USGS Topo Map 1945
$27
This is a 1945 USGS topographic map of the Winchester Mountains in southeastern Arizona, a 15-minute quadrangle at 1:62,500 drawn from 1942-1943 aerial and field surveys. First published and printed in 1945, it covers rugged country about 50 miles east of Tucson across Cochise and Graham counties, taking in Muleshoe Ranch, The Mesas, and portions of the Coronado National Forest and the Galiuro and Redfield Canyon wilderness areas. One quiet detail stands out: a powerline corridor, drawn here before it was built, marked in the southeast corner with matching UTM notations in the collar. Printed on thick stock and never folded.

This vintage sheet is a 1945 edition of the Winchester Mountains Arizona USGS topographic map. It is an original 81-year-old United States Geological Survey print in fair condition.
HOW THIS MAP CAN BE USED
In addition to making a fascinating conversation piece, this sheet would make a unique and prized gift for anyone interested in this area, be perfect as a reference for genealogy studies or general historical research, or fill that missing piece in your collection.
FEATURES SHOWN ON THE MAP
The Winchester Mountains 15-minute map shows cities and towns, roads, railroads, rivers, creeks, elevation contour lines, public land survey lines, county, state, and other administrative boundaries as they existed at the time of the survey in 1942 and 1943. All known structures (houses, businesses, churches, schools, barns, cabins, etc) are also shown.
A VALUABLE HISTORICAL RECORD
Maps from the 15-minute series for the continental United States are no longer produced or printed by the USGS and original prints are becoming increasingly difficult to find. They are a valuable historical record for an area, as they contain many placenames and features that have been dropped from more recent maps.
