This USGS 15-minute topographic map is a 1958 edition, printed in 1971, and the sheet is in excellent condition: very lightly handled, never folded, smooth and flat on thick stock. Covering a stretch of southern Arizona about 45 miles southeast of Tucson, the quad takes in the small community of Elgin along with Patagonia and Sonoita, and includes part of the Coronado National Forest across Pima and Santa Cruz counties. This is high-desert grassland country in the hills near the Mexican border, an area long tied to cattle ranching and, in recent decades, to the vineyards around Elgin and Sonoita. It comes from the vintage map collection of Art Christiansen of Tempe, Arizona.
