Printed in its year of first publication, 1944, this USGS 15-minute topographic sheet is a first-year print in fair condition, on thick stock and never folded, with lightly age-toned paper and considerable storage and handling wear on the right collar. Covering country about 65 miles southwest of Tucson along the Mexican border, the quad spans parts of Pima and Santa Cruz counties and takes in portions of the Coronado National Forest and the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge. Surveyed in 1941 and 1942, the sheet maps only the Arizona side—the terrain south of the border is left unsurveyed—a detail that captures how this stretch of borderland was recorded during the war years. From the vintage map collection of Art Christiansen of Tempe, Arizona, and the reverse carries printed USGS reference material.

At the bottom of the page is a legend showing all of the symbols used to represent the cultural, relief, and water features found on the map.

Maps from the 15-minute series for the continental United States are no longer produced or printed by the USGS and original prints are becoming increasingly difficult to find.
