First published in 1941 from a field survey that year, this sheet was printed in 1960 and is in very good condition, never folded and printed on thick stock, with a flawless map area and only light handling and storage wear along the top collar. The quad sits in southern Pima County about 60 miles southwest of Tucson, taking in country near the Mexican border and including part of the Tohono O’odham Indian Reservation and a portion of the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge. Named for Presumido Peak, the map shows dry desert backcountry rendered at 50-foot contours, the kind of sparsely settled terrain that fills this stretch of the Arizona borderlands. It comes from the vintage map collection of Art Christiansen of Tempe, Arizona.
