Blackcap Mountain California USGS Topo Map 1972 Vintage
$45
This USGS 15-minute topographic map is a 1953 edition with 1962 revisions, printed in 1972 on thick stock and in excellent condition, lightly handled and never folded. It takes in high country in Fresno County about 55 miles northeast of Fresno, spanning parts of Kings Canyon National Park and Sierra National Forest along with portions of the John Muir, Dinkey Lakes, and Sequoia-Kings Canyon Wilderness areas. This is rugged Sierra Nevada backcountry, with 80-foot contours tracing the peaks and drainages of a stretch of the range with no roads or towns, and the never-folded sheet on heavy stock lies flat for framing.

FEATURES SHOWN ON THE MAP
The Blackcap Mountain 15-minute map shows cities and towns, roads, railroads, utilities and energy infrastructure, rivers, creeks, elevation contour lines, public land survey lines, county, state, and other administrative boundaries as they existed at the time of the survey in 1948 and 1953. All known structures (houses, businesses, churches, schools, barns, cabins, etc) are also shown.
A VALUABLE HISTORICAL RECORD
Maps from the 15-minute series for the continental United States are no longer produced or printed by the USGS and original prints are becoming increasingly difficult to find. They are a valuable historical record for an area, as they contain many placenames and features that have been dropped from more recent maps.
