This USGS 15-minute topographic map is a 1961 edition printed in 1963, in very good condition with light handling and a single midsheet horizontal foldline. Covering a stretch of the San Joaquin Valley about 30 miles northwest of Fresno, the quad area spans parts of Madera, Mariposa, and Merced counties and takes in Chowchilla, the small town of Le Grand, and the community of Berenda. Drawn from a 1961 aerial and field survey with 20-foot contours, it records the flat farmland and scattered valley settlements of this agricultural corner of central California as they stood in the early 1960s.
