This USGS 15-minute topographic map is a 1956 edition printed in 1973, in very good condition on thick stock, lightly handled and never folded. It takes in part of Yosemite National Park in California’s Sierra Nevada, with the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir defining the sheet and the surrounding Yosemite Wilderness spread across Tuolumne and Mariposa counties. The reservoir behind O’Shaughnessy Dam floods a granite valley that John Muir fought to keep wild, and at an 80-foot contour interval the map lays out the steep country that rings it. The map area is flawless with a clean collar, and having never been folded it lies flat for framing.
