A 1962 edition printed in 1964, this USGS 7.5-minute topographic sheet is in excellent condition: never folded, smooth and flat, and produced on thick stock. It takes in Grand Junction and the surrounding Mesa County area along the Colorado River, including the Redlands and Orchard Mesa communities and part of Colorado National Monument to the southwest. Anyone with a tie to Grand Junction will recognize the layout of the town and the high red-rock country at the monument’s edge, drawn here at a detailed 1:24,000 scale with 20-foot contours. The sheet carries a University of California inventory stamp in the bottom right collar and shows only very minor wear along the upper right edge.
