This USGS 15-minute topographic map is a 1960 edition, printed in 1962, and the sheet is in very good condition, printed on thick stock with a clean map area showing no wear or markings. Covering a stretch of California’s San Joaquin Valley about 15 miles southeast of Merced, the quad spans parts of Madera and Merced counties and takes in Chowchilla along with Le Grand and El Nido. Drawn from a 1958 and 1960 aerial and field survey, its ten-foot contour interval traces the low relief of this flat farming country in fine detail. The sheet carries a midsheet horizontal foldline and some handling wear, with minor collar handling as well.
