This 7.5-minute USGS topographic map is a 1945 edition, printed in 1955, on thick stock and in very good condition – lightly handled and never folded. Covering an area about 23 miles southwest of Denver in Douglas and Jefferson counties, the quad takes in the community of South Platte and part of Pike National Forest, with contours at 50-foot intervals across the mountainous terrain of Platte Canyon. Based on a 1945 aerial and field survey, it depicts the South Platte River before the construction of Strontia Springs Dam, showing the canyon as it ran in that era. The sheet has been kept clean, with no wear or markings in the map area and only very minor blemishes.
