This USGS 15-minute topographic map is a 1956 edition printed in 1970, and the sheet is in excellent condition on thick stock: very lightly handled, never folded, smooth and flat with a flawless map area. Covering a stretch of Chaffee County in central Colorado, the quad takes in Salida and Poncha Springs along with the smaller communities of Nathrop and Maysville, plus portions of San Isabel National Forest and the Browns Canyon Wilderness Study Area. This is high-country terrain in the upper Arkansas River valley, drawn at an 80-foot contour interval that traces the steep relief flanking the Sawatch Range. Its clean, flat condition makes it a good candidate for framing.
