This USGS 15-minute topographic map is a 1959 edition, printed in 1974, and the sheet is in good condition, never folded and on thick stock. Set about 65 miles southwest of Colorado Springs in Custer and Saguache counties, the quad takes in a stretch of the Sangre de Cristo range, including Eureka Mountain, with portions of San Isabel and Rio Grande national forests and part of the Sangre de Cristo Wilderness falling within its boundaries. The high, rugged terrain here is drawn at an 80-foot contour interval, tracing the steep peaks and ridgelines that define this part of southern Colorado.
