This USGS 15-minute topographic map is a 1954 edition printed in 1967, a vintage sheet in very good condition that has been lightly handled and carries foldlines from earlier use. It takes in a stretch of Utah’s San Rafael Swell country in Emery County, roughly 50 miles south of Price, and includes parts of the Mexican Mountain, San Rafael Reef, and Sid’s Mountain Wilderness Study Areas within its boundaries. The country here is rugged high-desert backcountry of cliffs, canyons, and reef formations, and at a 40-foot contour interval the terrain reads clearly across the whole sheet.
