Fiddler Butte Utah USGS 15-Min Topographic Map 1958 Vintage

$47

This USGS 15-minute topographic map is a 1953 edition printed in 1958, in very good condition on thick stock, lightly handled and never folded. Drawn from a 1951 through 1953 aerial and field survey, it takes in remote canyon country in Garfield and Wayne counties about 55 miles southwest of Moab, including the middle stretch of the Dirty Devil River and parts of what are now the Fiddler Butte, French Spring-Happy Canyon, and Dirty Devil Wilderness Study Areas. The rugged, largely undeveloped terrain here is cut by deep canyons and sandstone benches, and the sheet gives a good overview of the river’s course through that country. The collar shows slight storage wear at its bottom edge and carries an inventory stamp, but the map area itself is clean with no markings or blemishes.

A VALUABLE HISTORICAL RECORD
Maps from the 15-minute series for the continental United States are no longer produced or printed by the USGS and original prints are becoming increasingly difficult to find. They are a valuable historical record for an area, as they contain many placenames and features that have been dropped from more recent maps.
