This is a joint USGS / Army Corps of Engineers topographic map on the 15-minute series, a 1941 edition printed in 1958, and the sheet is in very good condition, lightly handled and never folded. It takes in Tug Mountain and surrounding country in Hancock and Washington counties, about 45 miles east of Bangor in the lake-studded interior of Down East Maine. A previous owner, a fisherman, marked several of the lakes with the fish species he found there in a neat hand, a personal record layered over the printed terrain that says something about how this stretch of Maine has long been used.
