A 1953 edition printed in 1973, this USGS 15-minute topographic sheet is in fair condition, having been handled considerably though never folded; the map area itself shows no wear, no markings, and no blemishes. It covers a stretch of Aroostook County in northern Maine about 20 miles west of Presque Isle, with the town of Ashland within the quad boundaries. The map takes in the wooded, river-laced country of Maine’s north woods, the kind of terrain the logging and river-drive history of this corner of the state was built on.

A reddish tint may be used on this sheet to indicate urban areas where only landmark buildings will be shown. Outside of those areas, all known structures (houses, businesses churches, schools, barns, cabins, etc) are shown.
