This joint USGS/Army Corps of Engineers topographic sheet is a 1940 edition, printed in 1959, and its never-folded sheet remains in very good condition with a flawless map area. Covering a stretch of Washington County in far eastern Maine about 70 miles northeast of Bangor, the quad takes in the communities of Waite and Topsfield along with part of the Passamaquoddy Indian Reservation. The 15-minute series maps this quiet corner of the Maine woods near the New Brunswick border at a scale of 1:62,500, with 20-foot contours tracing the lakes and low ridges that define the country here.
