This USGS 7.5-minute topographic map is a 1983 edition printed in 1984, in excellent condition with a flawless map area and only very minor collar wear; the sheet was lightly handled and never folded. It covers an 8-by-9-mile stretch of Kauai in Hawaii, about nine miles northwest of Lihue, taking in Mount Waialeale, the peak that gives the quad its name and one of the wettest spots on Earth. Drawn from aerial and field survey work spanning 1959 through 1983 with 40-foot contours, it maps the rugged, rain-soaked interior highlands at the heart of the island.
