Printed in its year of first publication, 1963, this USGS 15-minute topographic sheet is in excellent condition, lightly handled and never folded on thick stock. It covers a stretch of the Sonoran Desert in Pima County roughly 80 miles southwest of Phoenix, taking in the Sikort Chuapo and Batamote Mountains, part of the Tohono O’odham Indian Reservation, and the small crossroads community of Why. The 40-foot contours trace remote desert ranges and washes across empty backcountry, and the map area is flawless with only very minor age toning along the bottom collar edge. It comes from the vintage map collection of Art Christiansen of Tempe, Arizona.
