Castaneda Hills Arizona USGS 15-Min Topo Map 1967 Vintage
$40
This USGS 15-minute topographic map is a 1966 edition printed in 1967, and the sheet is in very good condition, lightly handled and never folded on thick stock. Drawn from 1964 and 1966 aerial and field surveys, it takes in dry country roughly 25 miles east of Lake Havasu City in La Paz and Mohave counties, with the Bill Williams River running through the quad and portions of the Swansea Wilderness, Aubrey Peak Wilderness, and Bill Williams National Wildlife Refuge falling within its boundaries. The map area is flawless, and this is rugged desert backcountry where the river corridor cuts across otherwise sparse and undeveloped terrain. It comes from the vintage map collection of Art Christiansen of Tempe, Arizona.

FEATURES SHOWN ON THE MAP
The Castaneda Hills 15-minute map shows cities and towns, roads, railroads, utilities and energy infrastructure, rivers, creeks, elevation contour lines, public land survey lines, county, state, and other administrative boundaries as they existed at the time of the survey in 1964 and 1966. All known structures (houses, businesses, churches, schools, barns, cabins, etc) are also shown.
A VALUABLE HISTORICAL RECORD
Maps from the 15-minute series for the continental United States are no longer produced or printed by the USGS and original prints are becoming increasingly difficult to find. They are a valuable historical record for an area, as they contain many placenames and features that have been dropped from more recent maps.
