This USGS 15-minute topographic map is a 1961 edition printed in 1971, and the sheet is in excellent condition – very lightly handled, never folded, and smooth and flat on thick stock with a flawless map area and a clean collar. It covers the country around Wenden in western Arizona, roughly 80 miles west of Phoenix, taking in the Harquahala Mountains, the Aguila Valley, and parts of the Harquahala Mountains and Harcuvar Mountains Wilderness areas. The rugged desert ranges of La Paz County rise sharply from the valley floor here, and the 40-foot contours trace that relief across largely open, undeveloped terrain. This sheet comes from the vintage map collection of Art Christiansen of Tempe, Arizona.
