This USGS 15-minute topographic map is a 1952 edition printed in 1959, a very good sheet on thick stock that was lightly handled and never folded. Its area straddles the Arizona-Utah line in the Monument Valley country, taking in the community of Oljato-Monument Valley and the surrounding Navajo Nation lands, with Agathla Peak rising within the quad boundaries. The map area itself is flawless, and its subject is one of the most recognizable desert landscapes in the Southwest, all of it laid out at 40-foot contour intervals. It comes from the vintage map collection of Art Christiansen of Tempe, Arizona.
