This USGS 15-minute topographic map is a 1953 edition printed in 1962, an excellent, never-folded sheet on thick stock that has been kept smooth and flat with a flawless map area and a clean collar. Drawn from a 1951 and 1953 aerial and field survey, it straddles the Utah-Arizona line about 15 miles northwest of Page, taking in country across Coconino and Kane counties that includes the town of Big Water and portions of the Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness and the Wahweap area. The mapping predates the filling of Lake Powell, showing the canyon country of this stretch of the Colorado River drainage before the reservoir reshaped it.
