This is a 1950 edition of the Pearl quadrangle, a USGS 15-minute topographic map printed in 1956 and in very good condition. It covers a stretch of west-central Illinois along the Illinois River where Calhoun, Greene, and Pike counties meet, with the quad area taking in Kampsville, Pearl, Eldred, and Hillview, and the map reaches west across the state line into Missouri. The sheet was never folded and shows no wear in the map area, carrying only a library stamp and inventory notation in the bottom right collar and hole punches along the sides; printed on thick stock, it has been kept in clean, flat shape. The river-bottom country here, drawn from a 1926 and 1927 aerial and field survey, will be familiar to anyone with ties to Calhoun County’s ferry towns.
