This 15-minute USGS topographic sheet is a 1933 edition, printed in 1960, and is in very good condition – lightly handled and never folded, on thick stock. Based on a 1932 and 1933 field survey, it takes in a stretch of northern Pennsylvania and southern New York, with the quad area including Smethport, Port Allegany, and Eldred in the McKean County region, along with the smaller communities of Rixford and Coryville. The map area itself is flawless, and the sheet carries a library stamp in the center right collar along with edge protectors, a piece of northern Appalachian oil-and-timber country as it stood in the 1930s.

All known structures (houses, businesses, churches, schools, barns, cabins, etc) are also shown, with exceptions in some urban areas, where only landmark buildings may be shown.

A VALUABLE HISTORICAL RECORD
Maps from the 15-minute series for the continental United States are no longer produced or printed by the USGS and original prints are becoming increasingly difficult to find.
