This USGS 15-minute topographic map is a 1945 edition printed in 1956, in very good condition on thick stock, lightly handled and never folded with a flawless map area. Drawn at 1:62500 from a 1944 and 1945 aerial and field survey, it takes in a stretch of north-central Pennsylvania about 40 miles north of State College, crossing parts of Cameron, Clinton, Elk, and Potter counties, with the community of Driftwood and Sterling Run within its boundaries. The 40-foot contour interval traces the steep, forested ridges and creek valleys of this part of the Pennsylvania Wilds, terrain long known for its remote woods and winding streams. Because it was kept flat and unfolded, it would frame well; a library stamp in the right collar and edge protectors are the only handling marks.
