This USGS 7.5-minute topographic map is a 1960 edition, printed in 1964, and the sheet is in good condition – lightly handled with foldlines, printed on thick stock. Covering roughly 7 by 9 miles of the Roaring Fork valley in Pitkin County, it takes in Aspen along with portions of the White River National Forest and the surrounding wilderness peaks. Surveyed between 1958 and 1960 when the town’s population was around 1,000, the map runs from the airport upvalley toward present-day Dunbar Ranch and shows the ski country of Aspen Highlands, Aspen Mountain, and Buttermilk before the resort era filled in the valley.
