This USGS 15-minute topographic map is a 1935 edition printed in 1967, in excellent condition, lightly handled and never folded. The quad takes in Mount Washington and the Presidential Range in New Hampshire’s Coos and Grafton counties, extending north toward the Pilot Range, and includes portions of the White Mountain National Forest and the Great Gulf Wilderness as well as the city of Berlin. Drawn from a 1934 and 1935 field survey, it records the area before the modern highway system, showing historic overland routes, rail lines, early placenames, and the structures known at the time. Small library stamps appear in the bottom right collar, and the sheet comes from the vintage map collection of James Snively of Bellbrook, Ohio.

All known structures (houses, businesses, churches, schools, barns, cabins, etc) are also shown, with exceptions in some urban areas, where only landmark buildings may be shown.

A VALUABLE HISTORICAL RECORD
Maps from the 15-minute series for the continental United States are no longer produced or printed by the USGS and original prints are becoming increasingly difficult to find. They are a valuable historical record for an area, as they contain many placenames and features that have been dropped from more recent maps.
