This USGS 15-minute topographic map is a 1961 edition printed in 1971, and the sheet is in excellent condition — lightly handled, never folded, and smooth and flat on thick stock. It takes in a stretch of Navajo County in eastern Arizona about 20 miles northwest of Show Low, with the small communities of Clay Springs, Pinedale, and Aripine within the quad boundaries, along with portions of the Sitgreaves National Forest and the Fort Apache Indian Reservation. Based on 1958 and 1961 aerial and field surveys, it predates the modern alignment of Highway 260, so it records the road network of that earlier moment; the sheet comes from the vintage map collection of Art Christiansen of Tempe, Arizona.
