Printed in its first year of publication, 1943, this USGS 15-minute topographic sheet is in very good condition, lightly handled and never folded on thick stock. Covering an area about 25 miles northeast of Yakima where Grant and Kittitas counties meet, the quad takes in the Ginkgo Petrified Forest, Saddle Mountain, and the community of Vantage along the Columbia. Because it was drawn from a 1938 and 1939 field survey, it predates Interstate 90, showing the terrain of the Columbia crossing before the modern highway came through. The reverse carries printed reference material on reading the map. A library stamp sits in the lower right collar, with the map area itself flawless.
